An English-medium primary school, made in Toamasina.

King's Grammar School is a primary school for children from Nursery to Year 6. We teach in English, with qualified native-speaking teachers, and we prepare our pupils for both Malagasy national exams and international qualifications.

Christian

Daily worship, weekly Bible, and four school virtues woven through every lesson: excellence, compassion, honesty, courage. Families of all faiths and none are warmly welcomed.

02

International

We teach an international primary curriculum in English, taught by qualified native-speaking staff. Our pupils sit both Malagasy national exams and international qualifications.

03

Bilingual

English is the medium of instruction. French is taught daily from Nursery, building to full fluency by Year 6. Malagasy is celebrated as a home and cultural language.

04

Toamasina

We are a school of and for this city. Our curriculum, our King's Readers storybooks, and our school year are rooted in Madagascar and the rhythms of the east coast.

Portrait of the Head Teacher
A word from the Head

“We built this school for our own children first.”

Every parent deserves a primary school they can trust. One where children read fluently in English, speak French confidently, are known by name, and are taught by people who chose to be here. That is the school we have built, and the school we are still building.

Nursery to Year 6

A clear path from age three to eleven.

Nursery and Reception follow the EYFS framework. Years 1 to 6 follow an international primary curriculum that covers Malagasy national content alongside international standards. Each year group has a clear purpose. Children are taught what they need when they need it, and re-taught until they have it.

What sets us apart

We write our own storybooks.

Madagascar has almost no English storybooks of its own. So we wrote our own. The King's Readers is a graded series of fourteen books, set on the island, matched to phonics phases, and used across the school from Reception to Year 6.
